Neuhaus Foot and Ankle is looking for an individual who enjoys a busy practice environment. The Insurance Verification Specialist  is a key member of the operations team, supporting our mission to deliver the best patient experience in healthcare.

This position is based in our administrative office in Smyrna.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Specialist to join our administrative team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring accurate benefit information, and helping to prevent claim denials and delays. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth billing process and a positive patient experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to scheduled appointments, procedures, or admissions

  • Contact insurance companies to confirm benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and pre-authorization requirements

  • Document and update patient insurance information in the electronic medical records (EMR) system

  • Communicate benefit and authorization details clearly to patients and clinical staff

  • Obtain and track prior authorizations for procedures, referrals, or medications when required

  • Collaborate with front desk and billing teams to resolve insurance discrepancies

  • Assist with re-verification for returning patients and coverage changes

  • Stay current on insurance guidelines, coding policies, and payer-specific requirements

  • Follow up on denied authorizations or coverage issues, escalating as appropriate


Qualifications

  • Associates degree in related field (Bachelors preferred in healthcare administration or a business discipline)

  • Preferably 1–2 years of experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or related healthcare administrative role

  • Strong understanding of health insurance terminology (co-pays, deductibles, out-of-pocket max, etc.)

  • Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans

  • Proficient with EMR systems and payer portals (e.g., Availity, Navinet)

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
